Obituary of Belton O'Neal Wilder, Jr.

Belton O’Neal Wilder, 93, widower of Marguerite Wilder Wilder, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Covenant Place. Born in Sumter, to the late Belton O’Neal and Mattie Cubbage Wilder, O’Neal retired from Crosswell and Company after 32 years of service. He was a devoted member of Graham Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Church Clerk. O’Neal also served as Sunday School Secretary and Recording Secretary in charge of contributions for approximately 50 years. He then just served as Sunday School Secretary until he could no longer drive. He is survived by a sister, Carolyn Brogdon; two nieces, Jane Best and Janice Vaughan; several great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tommy and Jeannette Christmas. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, LaVerne Witherspoon; and a nephew, Barry Witherspoon. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 18, 2016 in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Reverend John Patrick officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel immediately following the service. Burial will be private in Sumter Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Solomons Home, 620 N.
