Margaret Player Parker, 86, widow of Adrian Parker, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at her home. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late John Player and Bessie Hudson Player. Mrs. Parker was an active member of Southside Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School secretary for over 20 years. She was the retired owner and operator of Ace Parker Tire Service. Surviving are four daughters, Lillian P. Garner and Linda P. Sims of Sumter, Adrienne Parker of Cayce and Karen P. Chappell (Denny) of Sumter; a special daughter, Angela Wilson of Cayce; two sisters, Tess Wagner of Gainesville, Ga and Johnnie Corley of Lawrenceville, GA; four grandchildren, Robbie Walker, Wayne Sims (Lynn), Parker Chappell and Player Chappell; four great-grandchildren, Chandler Sims, Cameron Sims, Carson Walker and Callie Walker. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lavern Player; two sisters, Jean Pritchard and Doris Kolb; two sons-in-law, Jerold W. Garner and Wayne Sims, Sr. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Holley and Rev. Tommy Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 2377 Highway 521 South.
