Obituary of Dorothy Mixon Weaver

Dorothy Mixon Weaver, 82, widow of Franklin D. Weaver, died Monday, September 4, 2017, at her home.

Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late David Furman Mixon and the late Annie M. Brown Mixon.

Mrs. Weaver was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church and retired from Sumter School District Two with 20 years of service. 

Surviving are one son, Gene Allen Weaver and his wife Lynn of Mayesville; five grandchildren, Gene Kelly, Ronnie Gainey, Danelle Gainey, Tracy Weaver and Chris Weaver; three great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Gilbert, Lakin and Lily Gilbert; and a stepdaughter, Donna Mae Hillman of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by two sons, David Franklin “Frankie” Weaver and Michael Nelson Weaver.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday at Zoar United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve McCormick officiating.

Burial will follow in the Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
