Obituary of Vernon Roy Geddings

Vernon Roy Geddings, 63, husband of Ann Gamble Geddings, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at his home.

 

Born in Sumter, to the late Roy and Helen Bantz Geddings, Vernon was the owner and operator of Danny’s Trophy Shop. He was a member of the Sumter Jaycees, the Sumter Touchdown Club, and was a PARD softball sponsor. Vernon was an avid Gamecock sports fan, dirt track racing fan and former P-15’s assistant baseball coach. He was a member of Fraser Memorial Presbyterian Church.

 

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Taylor Gamble Geddings and Parker Daniel Geddings; a niece, Mary Baird (Michael); and a nephew, Mason Geddings, all of Sumter. He was predeceased by a brother, Danny Ray Geddings.

 

Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Friday, September 15, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Nick Cheek and Reverend Chuck Staggs officiating. Burial will follow in Sumter Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fraser Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1746 US-521, Sumter, SC 29153.
