Obituary of Sharon Elaine McLeod

Sharon Elaine Cook McLeod, 76, died Monday, February 10, 2025, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. Sharon married Gene McLeod on June 10, 1967. They spent 42 years together before Gene passed in 2010. Born in Scranton, SC, she was a daughter of the late L. E. Cook, Jr. and Sophie Marion Miles Cook. She and her family have lived in Sumter for the past 39 years. Surviving is a daughter, Eva M. McLeod; two sons, Charlton McLeod (Erin), and David McLeod (Sara); a brother, Frank Cook, and eight grandchildren: Noah, Mary-Fay, Gabe, Charlton Jr., Micah, Destery, Rosie-Lynn, and Maggie. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene, her mother, Marion, her stepmom, Frida, and her “Daddy”, Charlton Hanna. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, February 14, 2025, at Lakeside Outreach Ministries located at 4315 Nelson Ferry Rd., Summerton, SC, 29148 with Rev. Kenny Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. Friday, February 14, 2025, at the church prior to the service.
