Obituary of Linda Montague

Linda Edens Montague, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at National Healthcare in Sumter, South Carolina. Born on March 17, 1943, Linda lived a full and generous life devoted to her family and community. She is survived by her husband, Bert Larry Montague II of Sumter; her daughter, Nancy Montague Cromer (Perron) of Sumter; and four cherished granddaughters: NancyHayes Cromer Owens (Ansel) of Sumter, Virginia Cromer Gibbons (Kerry) of Manning, Perrin Marie Cromer (Noah Wells), and Rebecca Cromer Noonan (Will). Linda was also a proud great-grandmother to Pruitt Owens, Parker Hayes Owens, Cromer Owens, and Wilder Gibbons. Mrs Debra Harrington, her friend and caregiver for over 23 years. She is also survived by her three brothers: C.B. Edens, James Henry Edens, and John Edens, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Bethea Edens, Sr., her dear uncle, Seldon McElveen, and her great-grandson, William Owens. The family extends their gratitude to the compassionate staff and Hospice of Iris Hall at NHC for the care and kindness they showed her. A private Celebration of Life was held on May 21, 2025.
