Obituary of Larry Champion

Larry Dean Champion, 71, husband of Sharon Threatt Champion, died Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.
He was a son of the late John Champion and Lavern Barksdale Champion.
Mr. Champion was the owner and operator of Champion Pool Service. Larry was a pistol. If you can picture the comedian, Larry the Cable Guy, then you’ve got Larry, the Pool Guy. Larry was born in Georgia, but moved to Jacksonville, FL when he was 2. He was a beach boy through and through. He was a United States Marine. He had one daughter, Jena, and a granddaughter. He met Sharon in Florida in 2000 and they moved to Sumter, SC in 2002. They were married on December 20, 2002. While Sharon worked at Goldkist Chicken plant, Larry built his own pool business from the ground up. He became beloved in Sumter and so many people thought he was the best person they had ever met. Larry wishes were to be cremated and his immediate family will have a personal end of life ceremony. May Larry RIP.
Surviving is his wife, a daughter, Jena DelDonne; a granddaughter, Isabella “Izzy” DelDonne; two brothers, Stanley Champion and Steve Champion; stepchildren, Monia Meeks (Nehemiah), Kristen and Scott; and step-grandchildren, Tristan White and Ashton White.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bradley Champion.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
