Obituary of Marie Ellis Grogan

Marie Ellis Grogan, 83, died Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Reid Ellis and Juliette Christine Dunning Ellis. Ms. Grogan was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a 1959 graduate of Edmunds High School and attended Palmer Business College. At a young age, she started working with her father in the family business, Ellis Pharmacy in Sumter; was formerly employed by Century 21 Development Company in Charleston and Realty World Graham & Grubbs in Laurinburg, NC. Surviving are two sons, Tom Lewis Sylvester (Silvania) of Alpharetta, GA and Mark Russell Littell (Joy) of Summerville; two daughters, Julieanne Sylvester Knight of Summerville and Alison Lynn Mims (Bryan) of Grayson, GA; one sister, Emilie Ellis Goldman (David) of Sumter; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Noon, Thursday, July 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
