Obituary of Leonard R. Meeks, Jr.

Leonard Richard Meeks, Jr., 82, died Monday, August 11, 2025, at his home. Born November 16, 1942, in Eastover, S.C., he was a son of the late Richard Leonard Meeks, Sr. and Ollie Mae Sharp Meeks. Mr. Meeks was a retired employee of Newman Construction Company. Surviving are three daughters, Marlyn Kemphart (Tom), and Diana Spring (Chuck) all of NC; and Linda Gallardo of NV; two sisters, Virginia Owen (Wayne) of Washington State and Margie Gardner (Charles) of Manning, SC; a brother, Donald Meeks (Gloria) of GA. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Mae Roberts and Beverly Jewell Deckard. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Simun officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
