Obituary of Rev. James W. Griffith

Rev. James W. “Buddy” Griffith, 81, husband of Sally Glasscock Griffith, died August 16, 2025, at his home in Sumter. He was a son of the late Johnny W. Griffith and the late Ora Lee Jones Griffith. A member of Bethesda Church of God, he was a retired manager of Muffler Masters and a retired minister. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Anna Loveday (Barry) of Columbia; a son, James “Jamey” Griffith, Jr. (Chanon) of Sumter; a sister, Brenda Garcia of California; 4 grandchildren, Jacob Tedder (Ashley), Rachel Tedder (Von), Dr. Aaron Griffith (Dr. Elizabeth Griffith), Peyton Griffith; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at Bethesda Church of God with the Rev. Al Sims officiating. The family will receive friends 10-11 before the service at the church.
