Sandie, I am so sorry to learn of Dicks passing. He was a man I truly respected. I loved flying with him. On the way back from a formation ride (T-38s) one afternoon, as we were just drilling along, each with our own thoughts, he remarked, "Bob, do you ever get the feeling you are surrounded by dumb-asses?" Totally out of character for him, as I knew him. I think of him frequently and how he mentored me for the short time I knew him. God bless you and your family. Bob Holliker

Sandie: I am so sorry to learn of Dicks' passing. He was a great friend, squadron mate and an excellent pilot. We had many life experiences together in war and peace. I will miss him always. May he be with Jesus and rest in peace.
God bless you and your family,
Frank R. Vicente

Sandie, I was so sad to learn of your great loss of Dicks. You all had a great marriage. I know you love him so much. How wonderful to know you'll be together again In heaven with our Lord.
May Jesus comfort you in this difficult season of life. Dicks was a great servant for our country, for the Lord, and for his family. My fondest memory of Dicks was our first semester break when I went home with you our first semester break when Dicks and you tried to teach me to play Bridge. I'm afraid I wasn't a very good student, but it was fun trying. I treasure the memory of Earl and I coming to Sumter to be in your wedding. What a beautiful life together! I send my heartfelt love and sympathy to you and your daughters and grandchildren.

My brother, Johnny, and I grew up on Calhoun Drive next door to the Cone family. Dicks was the oldest of us four boys, and I was the youngest. . Wells was closer to my age and one of my best friends growing up. Dicks had such a distinguished career. My family and I were fortunate to have grown up next door to the Cone family. Blessed are those who die in the Lord! Ken Dawson

Uncle Dicks was one of the incredible examples I had growing up of how to live a life of service as a military aviator. The example he set, thru his deeds and words, was inspiring to me. His easy smile and laugh were something to be emulated. His sharp mind and fair leadership style, in addition to his flying prowess, were something that clearly “ran in the family” and inspired me to the career that gave me a family and life I love that I’m incredibly proud of. I’ll miss Uncle Dicks, but it makes me smile to know he’s now in heaven with all the family (especially Mimi & Pappy).
Love you Uncle Dicks. Now that you’ve Gone West it’s only Blue Skies and Tailwinds for you.
