Obituary of Deborah Reagan Avins

WEDGEFIELD - Deborah “Debbie” Reagan Avins, 69, wife of James “Howard” Avins, passed away peacefully Friday, October 10, 2025, at home. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ernest A. Reagan and Dorothy Connaster Reagan. A devoted wife, mother and Grammy, she is survived by her husband, Howard Avins; daughter, Pamela Capell (Craig), and grandchildren, Connor and Madelyn Capell. Debbie worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant for 43 years, touching countless lives with her compassion and care. She was an active member of Shaw Heights Baptist Church and a longtime Girl Scout leader who loved mentoring and leading mountain backpacking trips. She is also survived by her siblings, James (Lorna) Reagan, Carolyn Fraley, Charles (Chris) Reagan, Geraldine Watson, and John (Laurie) Reagan; a brother-in-law, Sammy (Debra) Avins; two sisters-in-law, Kathy (Floyd) Mcleod, Gloria (Jimmy) Lamb, and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Lober; brothers-in-law, John Lober, Bill Fraley, and Ed Watson; and sister-in-law, Marianne Reagan. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Shaw Heights Baptist Church. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Shaw Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bob White officiating.
