Obituary of Rev. Dr. Timothy E. Hudson

Rev. Dr. Timothy E. Hudson, 60, died Saturday, October 25, 2025, at The McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of Elsie Dianne Floyd Hudson and the late Rev. Marion Ellis Hudson. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Donna Jean Mayo Hudson, two daughters, Rachel Hudson of Sumter, Sarah Wood (Tim) of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, his mother, one sister, Christy Brown (Steve), and four grandrascals, Adelaide, Rhett, Jay and Brooklyn.

Rev. Hudson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Theology from Covington Theological Seminary, a Master of Christian Apologetics from Liberty University, a Doctor of Ministry in Theology from Covington Theological Seminary and was a candidate for a Doctor of Ministry in Theology and Apologetics from Liberty University at the time of his death.

He served as the Pastor of Pocalla Holiness Church for twenty-four years. In 2013, he founded and served as the President of Gospel International, a mission organization with a particular focus on the nation of Myanmar (Burma). In addition, he also traveled the United States and other parts of the world preaching and teaching, including Mexico, the Bahamas, Croatia, Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Cameroon, India, and Singapore. He also served as the Adjunct Professor of Church History and Bibliology at the Free Gospel Bible Institute in Export, PA and the Adjunct Professor of Church History and Christian Apologetics at the Myanmar Undergraduate School of Theology in Myanmar.

Funeral services will be held at the Pocalla Holiness Church at 2 PM Tuesday with the Rev. Neil Bridges and the Rev. Robert Hardin, Jr. officiating.

Pallbearers will be Rev. Tim Wood, Steve Brown, Rev. Tom Greer, Rev. Elden Mayo, Jr., Eric Cornwell and Rev. Harvey Moore.

Burial will be in the Pocalla Holiness Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM at the church on Monday and other times at the home, 317 Pack Road.
