Obituary of Theresa Lynn Montalbano Ray
Theresa Lynn Montalbano Ray, 73, of Sumter, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 30 years, Floyd Ray. Theresa is survived by her two daughters, Becky (Keith) Crolley of Sumter and Summer (Kevin) Cribb of Sumter. She also leaves behind four beloved grandsons — Jett (Lindsey) and Jackson Wheeler, and Kane and Brandon Cribb, all of Sumter — who brought her endless pride and joy.
Theresa was the daughter of the late James and Peggy Barwick Montalbano. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Montalbano. She is also survived by her loving sister, Marsha (James) Aull of Florence, and by her cherished niece, Ginger Baggette (Kyle) of Florence, as well as several other loving nieces and nephews.
Theresa is also survived by her devoted partner, Monty Griffith, of Sumter, who brought her companionship, laughter, and love in her later years.
She graduated from Edmunds High School and retired from Glasscock Company after 35 years of dedicated service. Theresa’s strong work ethic and loyalty earned her the respect and admiration of all who knew her.
Above all, Theresa loved her family deeply. She found joy in caring for others, spending time with her grandchildren, and sharing laughter and warmth with those around her. She had a special love for animals, and her kindness extended to every living thing she met. She also cherished her quiet walks, moments of reflection, and the simple beauty of everyday life. Her faith in God sustained her through every season of life, and she now rests in eternal peace.
Theresa will be remembered for her strong faith, compassionate heart, and unwavering spirit. She touched countless lives with her generosity and love — and her legacy will continue to shine through her family and friends who loved her dearly.
A celebration of Theresa’s life will be held at Springbank Baptist Church on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Steve Miller officiating.
The family will receive visitors from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. Sunday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
