Obituary of Virginia Anne McLaurin
Virginia Anne Harvin McLaurin, 86, widow of Retired Brigadier General Hugh McFaddin McLaurin, III, died Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at her home.
Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Septimus Augustus Harvin and Mary Ellen Suber Harvin.
Mrs. McLaurin was a member and past Elder of Wedgefield Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of Les Trente, The Sumter Assembly, former President of the Junior Welfare League, former President of the Stateburg Literary & Musical Society and the Sumter Art Association.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Louise McLaurin Jones (Wade), Virginia McLaurin Mota (Dan), and a son, Hugh McFaddin McLaurin, IV (Leigh); grandchildren, Virginia McLaurin Cupstid (Brandon), Wade Hampton Jones, IV (Barnwell), Michael McLaurin Mota (Courtnie), Joseph Cooper Mota, Majid Amir Corbett (Caroline), Hugh McFaddin McLaurin V, Bentham Edmunds McLaurin, and Austin Lucas McLaurin; great-grandchildren, Henry McLaurin Cupstid, William Harvin Cupstid, Wade Hampton Jones V, Danielle Claire Mota, and Virginia Elliott Corbett; a brother, Septimus Augustus Harvin, Jr. (Betty); a sister-in-law, Jennie Linn McLaurin Duffie (John); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday in the Wedgefield Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jody Foster and Rev. Rodney Foster officiating.
Burial will follow in the Wedgefield Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall following the service.
