Obituary of Hank L Hurley
Henry L. (Hank) Hurley died December 4th at MUSC hospital in Columbia, SC after a brief illness.
Born in Paducah, KY on September 24, 1942, the son of Harvey LaRue and Naomi Ruth Hurley, and brother of MaeEtta Hurley White all who preceded him in death.
Hank graduated from Paducah Tilghman high school, graduated from St. Leo’s College, served in Viet Nam as a member of the USAF and retired from both the USAF and Civil Service at Shaw AFB, SC.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ellen C. Hamilton, children Debbie Hurley Honer(Jim), Todd Hurley, Ashley E. Hamilton(Pete Casey), Ian C. Hamilton(Noreen O’Donnell), and Adam M. Hamilton(Beth): grandchildren Carter C. Hamilton, Owen B. Hamilton, Jackson M. Hamilton, William Hamilton, Margaret Hamilton ,Jeremy Cosper, and Justin Honer, niece Ruth Stanley and nephew Roger(Carla) White and faithful canine companions Lewis, Clark, Sugar, and Roxie.
Hank was a devoted father and grandfather, a lover of animals, a competitive coach, a committed Gamecock fan, and a faithful supporter of his wife’s work reducing child abuse, sexual assault, and family violence. His military service in Viet Nam cemented his devotion to his country - specially to disabled veterans.
A private memorial service will be held in late spring at Cedars and Pines, the family’s home in Springhill in Lee County.
