Obituary of Louise Johnson Barkley

Louise Johnson Barkley, 87, widow of William Leverne “Buddy” Barkley, died Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at her home.

Born in Fairfax, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Johnson and Agnes Harvey Johnson.

Mrs. Barkley attended Southside Baptist Church.

Surviving are two grandchildren, Heather Christmas (Calvin), Sara Murrell; seven great-grandchildren, Abagail Johnson; Parker Fuller, Calvin Christmas, III, Jaxson Christmas, Ivy Murrell, Willow Murrell and Violet Murrell.

She was preceded in death by a son, Edward O. Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Holley, Rev. Allen Johnson, and Rev. Jim Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. Tuesday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home prior to the service.  

Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
