Obituary of Marie Lewis Hansen

Marie Lewis Ard Hansen, 91, widow of Carl Hansen died Monday, March 16, 2026 at The Gardens of Sumter.

 

Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Charles Haynswoth Lewis and Lorie Ardis Lewis Adams. 

 

Mrs. Hansen was twice married, first to the late John L. Ard and then to Carl Hansen.

 

Mrs. Hansen was a member of Longbranch Baptist Church

 

She is survived by a daughter, Ginger Ard Moore (Tommy); one son John L. Ard, Jr. (Mildred); one brother, Robert O. Lewis; grandchildren Thomas M. Moore “Champe” (Sheila), Meredith Moore Few (Todd), Virgina Ross Geddings, Alan Ross (Caitlyn); numerous great-grandchildren; her son-in-law,  Greg Ross.

 

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Ard Ross; siblings, Louise Lorie, Ethel Haynsworth, Carlisle Florony Lewis, Charles Henry Lewis, George Edward Lewis and Marvin Shaw Lewis.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Thursday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Debra Jo Anderson officiating.

 

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home.

 

Memorials will be made to Amedisys Hospice, 198 E. Wesmark Blvd. Suite #2, Sumter, SC 29150
