Obituary of James Allen Prescott
James Allen Prescott, 97, widower of Frances Chandler Prescott to whom he was married for 66 years, died Sunday, April 19, 2026, at his home.
Born November 27, 1928, in Sumter County, he was the oldest son of James F. Prescott and Catherine Hodge Prescott.
Mr. Prescott was a member of Lewis Chapel Church and was a graduate of Edmunds High School, Class of 1945. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves for 41 years and retired in 1988 as First Sergeant. He was a devoted member of the Santee Summer Ministry “boat church” for over 60 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Susan P. Petty, LouAnn P. Rogers (Parks), and Frankie P. Moore (Alan); 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carson D. Prescott and Leonard H. Prescott.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday in the Sumter Cemetery with Rev. Mel Thompson officiating.
Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.
