Obituary of Mary T. Hougland

Mary T. Hougland, 79, widow of Robert Hougland, passed Friday, April 24, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born July 14, 1946, in Sumter, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late Willard Thornbrew and the late Lucille Tarte Thornbrew.  She was a member of Bethesda Church of God and retired from Tuomey as a registered nurse for over 40 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Vikki Wise; a sister, Debbie Miller all of Sumter; five grandchildren, Bailey (Chris) Harvey, Lindsay Gaston, Tori (Legacy) Vause, Mariah Meyer, and Michelle Yates; six great grandchildren, and her best friend Ellen Calloway.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in the Chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Keaton Officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 12 PM -1 PM at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory.
