Obituary of Joel Mack Owens

Joel “Tiny” Mack Owens, 77, husband of Rebecca “Becky” Dunning Owens, died Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born in Tulsa, OK he was a son of the late Dixie Lee Chambers Owens. Mr. Owens was a member and served as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Order of Daedalians. He was a retired Major and pilot in the US Air Force and served in Vietnam. He was also an active private pilot and enjoyed great fellowship with his friends of the 51st Pursuit Group at the Sumter Airport. Surviving is his wife of Sumter; one daughter, Rev. Anna Grace Owens (Josh Sweeney) of Dayton, OH; one grandson, Charles Barton Owens-Sweeney. Memorial Services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church Fountain Garden adjacent to the West Youth Center with Rev. Joel Long officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
