Obituary of Judith McCulloch Wilson

Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Judith McCulloch Wilson made her long awaited journey to her heavenly home on Monday, February 14, 2022. A homecoming fit for the highest of angels, she is now reunited with family, friends, and the love of her life, but most importantly she is reunited with her Savior and heavenly father. Born in Sumter on October 29, 1946, the daughter of the late Joseph Marion McCulloch, Sr. and Frances McCulloch Younts, she began the ministry of her love for Jesus Christ with all who knew her and met her. She had a love and desire of service to her family, friends, and community that was unrelenting. Putting God first, she taught her children and grandchildren the importance of salvation and a relationship with Jesus Christ by the example of how she lived her life. Those who knew her knew the most friendly, loving, and giving person, who never met a stranger and always welcomed everyone into her life with open arms. A heart of service would be an understatement when describing her servitude. She was retired from 33 years of service with Sumter County Department of Social Services and was a devoted volunteer for The United Ministries of Sumter for many years following her retirement. Additionally, she devotedly served her church, New Salem Baptist, through teaching Sunday school, volunteering for vacation Bible school, outreach ministry, youth leader, choir member, financial/operations committees, and many other capacities within her church. Just as Christ loved her, she loved her church. Survivors include a daughter Shannon W. Griffin (Dane) and step-son James B. Wilson of Sumter, a daughter Meredith S. Proveaux (Daniel) of Cordova, a step-daughter Tamara Rewis of Savannah, Ga., 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a brother Joseph M. McCulloch (Gail) of Shreveport, La., a sister in-law Patty Younts of Pawleys Island and a special daughter Tori Stewart. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years Brady L. Wilson and her step-brother Howard Younts. A memorial service will be held to honor and celebrate her life at 11 A.M. on Friday, February 18, 2022, at New Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Kevin Massey officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior to the service and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church, 2500 W. Oakland Ave, Sumter, 29150 and The United Ministries of Sumter, P. O. Box 1017, Sumter 29151. A sincere thanks and gratitude are extended to her physician and friend Dr. Matthew Floyd, nurses of Fresenius Dialysis Center, and her Amedisys Hospice team for their devoted work and excellent care.
