Isabelle Burress, 90, died Monday, November 2, 2015, at a local nursing center. Born in Wedgefield, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Clarence Burress and Carrie Olivia Kilpatrick Burress. Miss Burress was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of the Tuomey Hospital School of Nursing. She was very dedicated to her profession and maintained the highest of standards. Shortly after graduation, she was asked to serve as a Nursing Instructor. She retired as a school nurse with Sumter School District 17. Her hobbies included travel, water skiing and swimming. Surviving are one sister, Josie Burress Loflin of Colonial Heights, VA; a number of nieces and nephews, including Lisa L. Allbritton, Billy Lachicotte, Elaine B. Duncan, Linda B. Joyce, Jimmy Carr, Carole Tinkey, Karen Davis, Pam Loflin, Laurie Loflin, Jana Hadder, Robert Burress and Marvin Burress. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Steve Holler and Rev. Angela Marshall officiating. She was preceded in death by a niece, Frances A. Watson and a nephew, Ferdie Alsbrooks. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
