Dear Terry, Elizabeth, and Tyler, Please accept my sincere sympathy for the loss of your wonderful Martha. She was my best friend in law school, and it was such a pleasure knowing her. Although we only connected a few times in recent years, I have thought of her often, and still have a "Marthaism" or two in my vocabulary, which I have in turn, passed on to others. Please know she will be greatly missed. God bless you all.

I was saddened to learn of Martha's recent passing. She was truly a pioneer in many areas of the legal profession. I met Martha when I was hired as an Assistant Solicitor in the Third Judicial Circuit. She had a vast knowledge of criminal law and she was always available to help me if I had questions. She encouraged me to become involved in many civic and community activities. She was also very dedicated to her family. My sincere condolences go out to her family. I hope the support and love of family and friends will help them make it through this difficult time.

To the family: Please accept my sympathies for your loss. I met Martha when she started here at the Attorney General's Office, in the Child Support Divison back when it was part of this office. And stayed in touch from time to time as her careeer took her back home. She was an excellent attorney, and a truly fne person to be around.

Mere words can not express the great we void we feel with our loss of Martha. Missing her is indeed an understatement yet we know she is resting in the arms of Jesus and with our Lord God whom she daily strived to serve. I know "Well Done" was spoken as she was ushered into heaven. We will cherish the countless memories. Martha was an humble faithful public servant who gave unconditionally her talents, gifts, wisdom, love, faith, and integrity to the citizens of Sumter since 1983, the State of South Carolina and further her family of the Sumter Police Department and the City of Sumter. She was a noble consummate professional of the Thin Blue Line of Peacekeepers serving the utmost devotion and loyalty. Martha, you were indeed loved, we miss you but know we must let you go away knowing we will meet again. Prayers, Blessings, and Grace are extended Terry, Elizabeth, Tyler, Joe and Kathy along with all the Horne and McElveen Family. We love you and are here for you.
