Obituary of Walter Edward Davis

Walter Edward Davis, 81, husband of Joan Ayers Davis, died Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at his home. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Arvin Davis and Frances Hall Davis. Mr. Davis was a U. S. Army veteran and was retired from Westinghouse. Surviving are his wife of Summerton; two step-sons, Jimmy Blakley (Denise), Darrell Blakley (Wendy); a step-daughter, Crystal Hagins (Robbie); two sisters, Janett Moye and Deborah Frierson (Eddie Coker); a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Ardis and a brother, Arvin M. “Buddy” Davis. Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at Zoar Community Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the home of his step-son, Darrell and Wendy Blakley, 2687 Tindal Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
