Obituary of William W. Doby, Jr.

William “Billy” Woodrow Doby Jr., 68, husband of Janet Jones Doby, died Sunday, March 6, 2016, at his home.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late William Woodrow Doby, Sr. and Claire Rogerson Doby.
Mr. Doby was a member of Harmony Church. He was devoted to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his time and fellowship with members of his Romeo Breakfast Clubs as well as flounder fishing and NASCAR racing. He was a retired Civil Engineer with the SC Department of Transportation and was the owner and operator of Doby’s Welding Company. He also took pride in his work building wrought iron gates and hand rails around the state.
Surviving are his wife of the home; two daughters, Vickie McKenzie (Clarke) of Andrews and Crystal Doby Dinkins (Nat) of Sumter; a brother, John Michael Doby (Tambri) of Ft. Mill; and a sister, Mary Carolyn Doby (Sam) of Pineville; three grandchildren, Weston Clarke McKenzie, Claire Vivian McKenzie, Blakely Elizabeth Dinkins and another grandchild expected, Caroline Doby Dinkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Brown officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Tommy Barron and members of his Romeo Breakfast Clubs.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home.
