Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Fraser Payne

Mary Elizabeth Fraser Payne, 73, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Carolina Pines Regional in Hartsville.

 

Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late William Washington Fraser, Sr. and Mary Billups Fraser.  Mary was a retired registered nurse and was a member of Hebron Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Lion’s Club in Jacksonville, NC where she received numerous awards for her service to mankind.

 

She is survived by a son, John Randolph Payne, Jr. of Asheville, NC; a daughter, Cynthia Marie Payne of Asheville, NC; three brothers, Will Fraser, Jr. (Crystal), Howard Lawrence Fraser (Gulie), and Hugh McCutcheon Fraser all of Sumter; a sister, Martha Ann Pat Fraser of Sumter; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Hebron Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Jack Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
