Obituary of Dorothy May Huggins

Dorothy May Huggins, 91, widow of Harley James Huggins, died Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at her home.

Born in Lumberton, NC, she was a daughter of the late Henry Belton Pittman and Rotha Blackman Pittman.

Mrs. Huggins was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church, and served as a Sunday School teacher.  She was an A#1 Mom.  She was also a member of the FCL Homemakers Club, the Girl Scout Club and served as a Girl Scout leader.  During the years her children attended school, she always served as a Homeroom Mom. She loved caring for her flowers and traveling.

Surviving are a son, Donald Ray Huggins (Beth); a daughter, Wanda Huggins Hendrix (Scott); a brother, James Pittman (Billie), five grandchildren, Jessica Bettinger (Joe), Reagan Hendrix, Rivers Hendrix, Kyle Huggins and Becky Barnette (Jordan); four great-grandchildren, Gwen Bettinger, Sebastian Bettinger, Kenleigh Barnette and Clayton Barnette; and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Huggins.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Huggins; two brothers, Jack Pittman and Jerry Pittman.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to her special friend, Pat Clemmons for her care of Mrs. Huggins. 

Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Dr. Clay Smith officiating.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. Sunday prior to the service at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
