Obituary of Ruth Outlaw Jackson
Ruth Outlaw Jackson, 101, widow of Joseph A. Jackson, died Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at the National Healthcare Center.
Born in Georgetown, SC, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Outlaw and Blanche Baxley Outlaw.
Mrs. Jackson was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a 1940 graduate of the Tuomey Hospital Nursing School.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph A. Jackson, Jr. (Debbie) of Sumter and William Charles Jackson (Barbara) of Columbia; a daughter, Susan J. Johnson (Charles) of Sherrills Ford, NC; two sisters, Barbara O. Lee of Goldsboro, NC and Jacquline O. Bordeaux of Johns Island, SC; five grandchildren, Anna J. “Holly” Garrity (Tim), Katherine J. “Katie” Atolli, Charles Henry “Chuck” Johnson, III, Joseph Christopher “Chris” Johnson, and Nancy J. Vaders (Mark); seven great-grandchildren, Mary Katherine Garrity, Maggie Lynn Garrity, Timothy Edward Garrity, Danielle Katherine “Ellie” Atolli, Jackson David Atolli, Audrey Geneva Vaders, and Sophie Evelyn Vaders.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Oscar Grant Outlaw; two sisters, Violette O. Cormell and Lulabelle O. Brannon.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday at Sumter Cemetery with Dr. Joseph James and Rev. Nancy J. Vaders officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. Saturday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 403 N. Purdy Street.
