Robert Michael Wenzel, 34, husband of Kelly Elin Halverson Wenzel, died Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.
Born in Ridgewood, NJ, he was a son of Michael Wenzel and Francine Robba Wenzel.
Mr. Wenzel was a retired Sergeant with the U. S. Army and served in Afghanistan and Kuwait. He was a Mason and member of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; his parents of New Jersey; one son, Mason Ezekiel Wenzel and another son expected in early 2020; brothers, Andrew Mateo, Matthew Wenzel, Kyle Wenzel, Alexander Wenzel, James Dreher-Wenzel, Joseph Dreher-Wenzel, Joshua Wenzel, Noah Wenzel; sisters, Rita Marie Dreher-Wenzel, Catherine Dreher-Wenzel, Ebony Dreher-Wenzel; his step-father, Arthur “Mac” Dreher; numerous extended family members; his mother-in-law, Susan Halverson and his father-in-law, Howard Hooper Halverson.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Pastor Donald C. Prosser officiating followed by military honors.
The family will receive friends following the services in the chapel.
