Dorothy Garrett Hatfield Cowart, 98, died Sunday, May 17, 2020 at her home. Born in Cheraw, SC, she was a daughter of the late Allen Jefferson Garrett and Marie Swink Garrett. Mrs. Cowart was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Surviving are 6grandchildren, Cynthia Morris (Cliff), Kaye Anglebrandt (Eugene), Derrick Watts, Mary Schaeffer (Jonathan), Kenneth Hatfield (Jessica), Andrew Hatfield (Alette); a very special family friend, Ann Dennis; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn H. Watts and a son, Kenneth C. Hatfield; three husbands, Joseph K. Hatfield, Layman Wingard, and James Cowart. Graveside services will be held at 10 A.M. Friday at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Jonathan Schaeffer officiating. Public viewing will be held from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. Wednesday and Thursday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and the family will also receive friends following the graveside service.
