Obituary of James Archie Johnson

James Archie Johnson, 85, died Thursday, May 21, 2020, at his home. Born in Hartsville, SC, he was a son of the late Boyd Leo Johnson and Hattie Freeman Johnson Short. Mr. Johnson was a member of First Baptist Church and a volunteer worker at McLeod Hospital. He was a retired U. S. Air Force Master Sergeant and a veteran of Vietnam. He was also retired from the Broward County Sheriff’s Department in Florida. Surviving are a son, James “Robert” Archie Johnson, Jr. (Kathy); a daughter, Cynthia Robyn Guzman (Nick) all of Bennettsville, SC; two sisters, Catherine Williams of Sumter and Jean Kimery of Hampton, VA; a brother, Albert “Abbie” Johnson (Kathy) of Burlington, NC; a sister-in-law, Mary Johnson of Wallace, SC; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He had a host of extended family that he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Bobby” Johnson and Kenneth Johnson. Private graveside services will be held at the Florence National Cemetery with Rev. Patrick Dye officiating.
