Jeanette “Net” Klarpp Brown, 100, widow of R. T. “Bobby” Brown, Jr., died Monday, August 10, 2020, at Covenant Place.
Mrs. Brown was born in Sumter, South Carolina on Feb 3, 1920. Net's parents, Edgar Faulk Klarpp and Bertha Grant Klarpp, came from N. C. to Sumter because of her father's job with the railroad. Her father died of complications from appendicitis at Tuomey hospital. Her mother married James Lonnie Calk who was a loving stepfather to Net and her brother Edgar.
Net graduated with the Sumter High School class of 1937 which included her husband-to-be, "Bobby" R. T. Brown, Jr. They married in 1939 and had one child, a son, "Bob" R. T. Brown, III, Edmunds High School class of 1958. “Net” worked for thirty years at the Sumter County Health Department, where she created and then managed the vital statistics system of birth and death certificates for Sumter County. “Net” and “Bobby” moved to Tranquility Cove on Wyboo Creek in Clarendon County after they retired and enjoyed many years socializing, sailing, and fishing.
She is survived by her son, Robert T. Brown III, her grandson, Robert Reed Brown, and her great granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Amanda, and Elyse Brown.
Graveside services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday in the Sumter Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Reginald Thackston officiating. All attendees are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
