Robert “Bob” George Gibbs, 89, husband of Barbara Jane Jarrard Gibbs, died Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach.
Born in Franklin, N.J. he was a son of the late Clifford Gibbs and Marion Walker Gibbs.
Bob was a member of Pinewood Charge United Methodist Church and attended Kansas State University, joined the US Air Force, served as a navigator on the B-47 aircraft and met Barbara Jane Jarrard.
Bob and Jane were married, left the Air Force and returned to Allamuchy, NJ to run Gibbs Farms with Bob's father and brothers. Moving his family south, Bob purchased Gibbscrest Farms in Sumter and raised 4 children.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, 4 children - Deb Williford (Charles), Karen Mitchell (Mike), Scott Gibbs (Laura) and Diane Gibbs (Jim Lester), 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; two brothers, numerous nieces and nephews and so many friends that were just like family.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
