So sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Blanchard; I had many contacts with her socially through the arts in Sumter and always enjoyed her. She contributed so much to Sumter in so many ways and she will be missed. Jimmie Anne Anderson

To the family-
Dr. Blanchard held a special place in the hearts of her Winthrop University family. We dearly loved to visit and talk with her by phone and to hear her stories of her days at Winthrop and her childhood. She graciously gave to her alma mater and we hope her memory will live through the scholarships she created. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family-she will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to the family during this most difficult time. May you find comfort in the words of Phil. 4:6,7 as you draw close to GOD in prayer. May the many fond memories of Mary bring you laughter and joy.

It was my privilege to know and work with Dr. Blanchard from 1979 until she retired. She always called me “Ms Tootsie”, and when she wanted us to hurry up, her favorite phrase was “Boogie chir’un!”. I valued her respect as a nurse and her affection as a friend. I will always remember her, and count myself blessed to have known her. I offer my sincere compassion to her family; I know you miss her deeply!
With love, Elaine.

I wish I could have had the opportunity to meet, and thank, Dr. Blanchard. She literally saved my grandmother's life. In a time (early 70s) when cancer, especially colon cancer, should have been fatal for my grandmother, Dr. Blanchard not only diagnosed the cancer, but she made sure my grandmother was in the best possible hands for her surgery, treatment, and care. Had it not been for Dr. Blanchard's thoroughness, I would have never known my grandmother. While the treatment resulted in a colostomy, my grandmother never complained and was always appreciative that Dr. Blanchard took such great care of her. My grandmother and mother always thought the world of Dr. Blanchard.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
