Franklin “Frank” Parnell Parker, 86, husband of Mildred Rulea Wilkes Parker for 65 years, died peacefully in his sleep Monday, December 28, 2020, at his home.
Born in Olanta, he was a son of the late George Pete Parker and Annie Lee Parker.
Mr. Parker was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran and later retired from Rockwell Aircraft Mfg. Co. Frank was a devoted family man. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed attending all of the P15 baseball games at Riley Ball Park. He volunteered with the VA for 17 years as a driver for the Veterans Hospital in Columbia and he served coffee at the VA clinic in Sumter.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; one son, George M. Parker (Karen); one daughter Deborah K. Sarvis (Ronz) all of Sumter; one brother, Irvin “Pete” Parker of Charleston; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Franklin Parker; a daughter, Jeanette Lorraine Jones; two brothers, Willard Parker and George Parker, Jr.; four sisters, Elouise Coker, Leola Parker, Mildred Parker, and Juanita Parker.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 5, 2021, in the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors.
