So saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Schwartz - she truly was a special lady. I met Abe and Irene when they were looking for a CPA to prepare their tax returns - what a loving and devoted couple they were. When Abe's health started declining she was always there for him to make sure he had the best care possible. She was such an intelligent, caring, friendly individual and I always marveled at how well she functioned given her advancing years - she actually made "old age" seem appealing for the rest of us. We had a on-going private joke between us because I was always running into her in public- particularly in different doctors' waiting rooms- you think in a city metropolis approaching six million residents that the odds of that happening would be extremely remote, but it did several times. We laughed about it and I would assure her she wasn't being stalked. I made "house-calls" for her tax returns from the start since my home was a block away and didn't want her and Abe to have to travel to my office (they did one time and I felt terrible given Abe's declining health vowing never to let that happen again). I'd telephone Irene to pop in to pick or drop off some tax stuff and she always looked like a model- even in her nineties, never a hair out-of-place and dressed for a magazine spread in her immaculate house. Even seeing her a few months ago she was as youthful as ever.
But my favorite observation about her was that she was always so polite, kind, and gracious- not a common quality you see anymore. She definitely put the "C' in class- what a classy lady she was -a remnant of that great generation slowly leaving us. She loved her family so much and I just want to offer them my sincerest sympathy at this sad time - Irene will truly be missed by them and by everyone who had the privilege to know her.
