Mrs. Kathryn L. Lewis, 89, widow of Edward Thomas Lewis, Sr., died on June 8, 2021 after a brief illness. Born in Sumter County, she was the only child of the late Alfred Dean and Uleta Zeigler Lewis. She was a lifelong resident of Sumter, having made Cayce, SC her home for the last eleven years. Kathryn retired from Sumter School District 17 and was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church and Alice Drive Baptist Church. Her favorite pastimes were spent decorating her home and knitting dishcloths to share with family and friends. Kathryn had a vibrant personality, and the love of her family was immeasurable. Survivors include her two sons, Edward Thomas Lewis, Jr. (Jane) of Summerville SC, Alfred Dean Lewis (Martha) of Irmo SC, and her daughter Julie Kathryn Lewis of Cayce SC, grandchildren, Dr. Amy Nolan-Roney (Brian) of Goose Creek SC, Dr. Edward Thomas Lewis, III (Jeff) of Charleston SC, Sara Smithson (Kevin) of Lexington SC and Alexander Lewis (Carrie) of Irmo SC and eight great-grandchildren, Gracey, Zane, and Seth Nolan, Willow, Ezra and Asher Smithson, and Coleman and Hallie Lewis. Kathryn adored Boston Terriers, had several during her lifetime, and is survived by Emma Jules. A private memorial service for immediate family has been arranged at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend William Lewis officiating.
