Obituary of Judith Kay Groth

Judith Kay Laidler Groth, 81, widow of Allan Russell Groth, died Friday, June 25 at her home in Lexington, SC. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Charles Laidler and Nellie Arieta Stark Laidler. She was born in Topeka, KS. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; a true friend to many, a fan in the stands for her grandkids’ athletics, a mad card shark and game player; and Gigi, Juju and Grandma Judy to her grandchildren and their friends. She was a retired bookkeeper. She was a member of a number of Red Hat Groups, a member of the Pilot Club, the Elks Club, the Newcomers Club and the Officers’ Wives Club; and a faithful Salvation Army bellringer at Christmas time. She is survived by a son, Kevin Scott Groth (Maria) of Ft. Worth, TX; a daughter, Laura Mossell (Mark) of Lexington, SC; 5 grandchildren, Justin and Bradley Groth; Matthew, Jacob and Mary Katheryn Mossell; and 1 great-grandson, Thomas Groth. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Allan Groth. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with burial following the service at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
