Obituary of Mary Josephine Turner

Mary Josephine Turner, 70, died Friday, October 8, 2021, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Thomas W. Turner and Bessie L. Turner. Miss Turner was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Central Carolina Technical College and the University of South Carolina. She was retired from Santee Electric Supply Company. Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca K. Pointe of Chicago and Sara E. Turner of Greenville; a son, Thomas W. Turner, II of Sumter; two grandchildren, Isabela and Andrew Valenzuela of Greenville; two sisters, Norma Jean Osteen, Susan Smith; two brothers, Thomas James Turner, Jr. and James Turner all of Sumter; her special care nurse and niece, Bessie L. Skelton of Sumter. She was preceded in death by a brother, Warren D. Turner; two sisters, Addie L. Turner and Margaret L. Turner. Private graveside services were held at Green Haven Preserve.
