Obituary of Thomas Eugene Meadows, Jr.

Thomas Eugene Meadows, Jr., 69, husband of Babette Pettigrew Meadows, died Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born in Tracey City, TN, he was a son of the late Thomas Eugene Meadows, Sr. and Virginia Keel Meadows. Mr. Meadows was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was a retired U. S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant and served in Vietnam and the Gulf War. He was Past Commandant of the Marine Corps Sumter Detachment #1202 and served as the “Toys for Tots” coordinator for many years. He was also a member of the V.F.W. He was formerly employed by Carolina Golden and retired from Caterpillar. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two daughters, Rebecca Jeffro (Trevor) of Tacoma, WA and Lorie Joy (Paul) of Chopticon, MD; two brothers, Haskel Meadows (Marie) of Tracey City, TN and Ronnie Meadows (Kelly) of Coalmont, TN; three sisters, Shirley Dodson of Greutli-laager, TN, Connie Steel of Coalmont, TN and Pattie Meeks (Steve) of Monteagle, TN; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Meadows. Funeral Services were held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial was in Summerfield Cemetery in Monteagle, TN.
