Charles Ray Rogers, 87, husband of Martha “Mickey” Moye Rogers to whom he was married for 50 years, died peacefully, Monday, January 3, 2022. Born in the Springhill Community of Lee County, he was a son of the late Cecil E. Rogers, Sr. and Mae Barfield Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He retired from the U. S. Army National Guard in 1994, was later employed by the U. S. Post Office and retired with 36 years of service. He was also the former owner and operator of Sunset Meadows Day Lily Farm. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two daughters, Deborah Hood (Edward), Meighan Rogers Price; a brother, Thomas J. Rogers (Edna) all of Sumter; two special grandsons, Peyton Price and Drake Price; five additional grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one special nephew, Tucky Rogers and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles “Chuck” Rogers and a brother, Cecil E. Rogers, Jr. Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in the Sumter Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Holley and Gordon Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to the Sumter SPCA, 1140 S.
