Obituary of Francis Leverne Hill

Francis Leverne Hill, 82, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Kenneth Benjamin Hill and Lucille Barnes Hill. Mr. Hill was twice married, first to the late Cynthia Rhem Hill for over 53 years and later to the late Joanne McCaskill Hill. Mr. Hill was a graduate of Sumter High School and attended Clemson University. He was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church and American Legion Post 15. He was the retired owner, operator and CEO of Hill Plumbing Company. Mr. Hill was a U. S. Army veteran of Korea. Surviving are one son, Francis (Frank) L. Hill, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Sumter; four daughters, Harper H. Alsbrooks of Sumter, Iris Hill and husband Darrell Gunn of Edisto Island, Alison H. Davis of Mt. Pleasant and Jennie H. Hawkins and husband Willis “Bill” of Easley; a brother, Kenneth Hill of Camden; a sister, Jennie Owen of Columbia; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Iris Edens and Myrle Purcell Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Sunday at Alice Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Clay Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Grandsons and family will serve as Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 P.M. Sunday at Alice Drive Baptist Church.
