Obituary of Dorothy Evans Weatherly Black

Dorothy “Dot” Evans Weatherly Black, 89, widow of Hartwell A. Black, died Sunday, June 14, 2015, at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late James Van Evans and Annie Belle Evans.
Mrs. Black was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a faithful member of her church, serving in different capacities. She was a member of the Cornerstone Sunday School class, the Emily Thomas Circle, and the Women of the Church. She was a member and past Matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Iris Chapter #149, also serving in numerous District offices. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club, the Newcomer Club of Sumter, and several bridge clubs.
She retired from South Carolina National Bank and enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bridge, and bowling. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and playing games with them.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Crystal Morris, Treva Fulton and husband John, Scott Weatherly and wife Olivia, Chris Cottingham and wife Rebeca; three step-children, Denny Black, Karen Stevens, and Carolyn Black; four step-grandchildren, Sam Black and wife Elena, Kelli Black Davis, Shannon Alexander and husband Jimmy, and Scott Stevens and wife Rhonda; sixteen great-grandchildren, Brandon Morris, Autumn Morris, Cameron Morris, Emily Morris, Carmen Fulton, Gavin Fulton, Zoey Grey Fulton, Faith Weatherly, Rudy Weatherly, Christiahna Scott, Eric Cottingham, Jacob Cottingham, Benjamin Cottingham, Noah Cottingham, Chistin Lingerman, and Nicholas Lingerman; step-great grandchildren, Nicklaus Black, Mimi Black, Drew Davis, Eliza Davis, Sierra Alexander, Morgan Alexander, Samantha Alexander, Tyler Stevens, Kaylee Stevens, and Lindsey Stevens; two sisters-in-law, Nancy McLeod and Kathryn Evans; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Rudolph Weatherly, Sr.; two sons, Rudy Weatherly, Jr. and Gerald Wayne Weatherly; a step-son, Dr. Samuel Black; two sisters, Elizabeth Brunson and O’Neale McMullen; and two brothers, Rudolph Evans and Milton Evans.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stuart Mizelle officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
