Obituary of Sammy R. Therrell

Sammy R. Therrell, 91, died Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia. Born in Waxhaw, NC, he was a son of the late William S. Therrell and Bobby Haywood Therrell. Mr. Therrell was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sergeant with 26 years of service. He was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam and his service also included tours of duty in Germany, England, Japan and Australia. He was a recipient of numerous medals and honors including the Bronze Star. In addition, he was a 32nd degree Mason and was also a Shriner. He was a past member of Riverside Hunt Club, Lynchburg Outdoorsman, Sunset Country Club, and the Sumter Elks Club. He was a life member of American Legion Post 15 and the VFW. Surviving is one brother, Bobby G. Therrell (Sandra) of Sumter and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Keistler and a brother, William R. Therrell. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Care, his neighbors, and his friends for all of their love and care. Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday in the Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery in Charlotte, NC with Rev. Ron Bower officiating with full military honors to follow. The family will receive friends from 3:30 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
