Everyone will eventually die so I'm not insinuating anyone can escape this but it is a shame that Josie passed away before Joe Sr. Josie was a good, kind, compassionate, and Godly woman and made Joe Sr. almost tolerable.
Josie (apparently) forgave Joe Sr.'s multiple attempts to cheat on her but he inevitably prevailed in the end, engaging in an adulterous affair with a married woman, Josie's caregiver. Joe Sr. continued in that adulterous relationship until he died.
Interestingly, the deails for Joe Sr.'s work history abruptly end in 1980 when he was only 38 years old. He dropped out of the workforce after allowing an extremely dangerous and possibly deadly "conflict" in the air space he controlled. He never contributed to society again from a work perspective, instead sustaining himself via the government until the day he died.
Joe Sr. was an abusive father to his only son, one who continually forgave him, tried to maintain a relationship with him, perpetually sought his approval, and still loved him despite the horrible treatment he received from Joe Sr. in return. Joey Jr. tried to be a dutiful son to a horrible unappreciative and exceedingly selfish father. Josie intervened and minimized the abuse while she was alive which is just another reason it was a shame she passed away first.
Joe Sr. alienated nearly everyone with his extremely rude, highly offensive, and inappropriate behavior which explains why few family members attended his funeral and, those who did, attended at the request of Joey Jr. who, even in the very end, STILL tried to be a good son.
I hope this additional information paints a more accurate picture and better captures reality versus what was portrayed in his self-written aggrandizing braggadocious version of his life.
