Obituary of Carolyn Elizabeth McDowell

Carolyn Elizabeth Warren McDowell, 88, widow of Dr. Robert Ernest McDowell, died Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at her home. Born in Newberry, SC, she was a daughter of the late Abram Warren and Vira Boozer Warren. Mrs. McDowell was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two daughters, Ellen McDowell Burns (Claude) of Summerville and Cindy McDowell Tyner of Chapin; four grandchildren, Margaret Burns Browder (Michael), Emily Burns Morgan (Walt), William Tyner and Elizabeth Tyner; three great-grandchildren; and special friend and neighbor, Gene Ardis. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Nichols and Margie Cook. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Earle Rowland officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. Sunday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Burial will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in the Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry, SC. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
