Obituary of Sylvia Stafford Therrell

Sylvia Stafford Therrell, 86, died Friday, December 16, 2022. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late William Archie Stafford and Mary Elma Brunson Stafford. Ms. Therrell was retired from the University of South Carolina Engineering Department and Career Services. Surviving are two daughters, Shelia Steptoe (Kirk) of Irmo and Sharon Haddock of Wedgefield; her siblings, Loretta S. Stokes of Sumter, William Archie Stafford, Jr. (Christal) of Spartanburg, SC and Terri S. Stokes (Mark) of Beaufort; five grandchildren, Drew, Josh, Mary, Grace and Rose (Joseph); two great-grandchildren, Lelia and Anslee; numerous nieces, nephews and their families whom she dearly loved along with her caregiver, Janice. Graveside Services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday in the Sumter Cemetery with Rev. Todd Fleming officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Loretta Stokes.
