Obituary of Donald Keith Fraley

Donald Keith Fraley, husband of Linda Brunson Fraley, died Sunday, July 23, 2023, in Sumter, SC.
Born in Charleston, SC, on September 18, 1935, he was the son of the late Walter Keith Fraley and Curlee Snelgrove Fraley. He grew up in Florence, SC, where he graduated from McClenaghan High School. Donald graduated from Clemson University in 1958 and from LSU’s School of Banking in 1973. He was a member of SC Banker’s Association, American Institute of Banking, Sumter Chamber of Commerce, Sumter Rotary Club, Sumter United Way Campaign, Sumter County Heart Fund, and Sumter Gallery of Art. He served as director of the Sumter Jaycees and chairman of the Sumter County Crippled Children’s Society. He worked in the banking profession for years and was employed by The National Bank of SC for over a decade. After his banking career Donald engaged in entrepreneurial pursuits, starting businesses that served the polymer filtration industry. He served in the SC Army National Guard. He was wonderful cook, an enthusiastic golfer who enjoyed playing at Sunset Country Club, and a member of the Les Trente and Trian dance clubs.
Donald was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Boyle Bible Class.
He is survived by his wife of Sumter, and a son, D. Keith Fraley, Jr. (Nicola Jane) of Aiken. His grandchildren include Abigail Bacot Self (John), Lydia Mae Grissom (Micah), Sofie Nell Fraley, and Ellie Rose Fraley.
The family is especially thankful for MSA Hospice and all the nurses, aids, and sitters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Joseph James officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Boyle Bible Class.
Private burial will be held at Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to and following the service at Trinity United Methodist Church and also at the home.
