Obituary of Dexter L. James

Dexter “Dee” L. James. 80, husband of Wanda Timmons James, died Monday, September 25, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born in Wilmington, NC, he was a son of the late Dexter James and Myrtie Brown James. Mr. James was a member of Green Acres Assembly of God Church. He was a retired mechanic with Bilton Lincoln-Mercury with 38 years of service. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Karen S. James and Sandra D. James; a brother, Jessie Ray James; three sisters, Eloise Register, Dorothy Wells, and Mayner Sawyer; one step-son, Edward J. James; four stepdaughters, Shayla Barkley, Tangela Harris, Ginger Griffin (Danny), and Cindy Cribb; numerous grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. James was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence James. Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Morris and Rev. Michael Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service and other times at the home of his daughter, 3200 Nazarene Church Road.
